If you plan a vacation on Monte Amiata or in Val d’Orcia, you cannot avoid a visit to at least one of the spas in the area. Since ancient times the Amiatina area has been a destination of “thermal tourism”, the Etruscans first the Romans after they knew well the beneficial properties of the warm waters that flowed from the lands around the ancient volcano, and the remains of their passage and their permanence , are still clearly visible to our eyes.

All the major spas are just a few kilometers from any country you choose as a destination for your trip so they are easily accessible by car or motorbike in less than 40 minutes.

Starting from Monte Amiata, the nearest spa you can visit is Bagni San Filippo. In this small and attractive village you can dwell on the natural “pools” easily reachable on foot where you can also admire the White Whale, a monument of limestone of rare beauty. In summer it is half of thousands of tourists who reach it by car, motorbike or camper. (At the moment there is no area equipped for campers). The spa is located right in the center of the small village.

Bagno Vignoni - La vasca

Moving 15 kilometers towards Siena we meet Bagno Vignoni where there is a large hot tub right in the center of the village. Bagno Vignoni is well structured to accommodate tourists, with a spa located just a short walk from the town center and a renowned top-notch spa, a few kilometers lower. For the DIY tourist, Bagno Vignoni also offers natural pools of hot water accessible from the road that leads to the village.

Therme of Fonte Verde

Moving away in the direction of Rome, but always a few kilometers away, we find the thermal baths of San Casciano dei Bagni, a characteristic medieval village where one of the most famous spas in the area stands. Fonteverde. The village also known as a destination for famous people is located in the extreme south of the province of Siena, near Radicofani and between Monte Amiata and Monte Cetona.
